Learning to play an instrument:

Learning to play an instrument and belonging to an orchestra opens up a whole new world of friendship and fun. The opportunities for playing a stringed instrument after high school are abundant, with many universities offering scholarships for orchestra participation. Orchestra provides a great foundation for your child in all aspects of life. In addition to music, students learn:

· Self discipline
· self expression
· Group cooperation
· memory skills
· problem solving
· concentration
· goal setting
· poise
· enhanced physical coordination
· importance of teamwork

These are skills in great demand in almost every aspect of life. Like all arts, music has profound effect on the academic success of students as well.

"Music is one way for young people to connect with themselves, but it is also a bridge for connecting with others. Through music, we can introduce children to the richness and diversity of the human family and to the myriad rhythms of life."- Daniel A. Carp, Eastman Kodak Company Chairman and CEO.
